Visitors of Milos tell stories about the unbelievable beaches and coastline. They are all true. Hotels and apartments on Milos are concentrated in Adamas and Pollonia, but you can find apartments as well in Sakarkiniko, some of the best hotls are in the areas of Provatas and Pachena.

Milos island lies in the south west of the Cyclades group of islands.
The island probably took it's name from the fruit "Milo" (apple) or according to legend, from a young man called Milos. This island is like a natural museum of 151 square kilometers, with fantastic beaches. Milos has become a favorite tourist destination, with 126 kilometers of beach and 5000 inhabitants.

Milos is 86 nautical miles from Piraeus and halfway between Piraeus and Crete.  It is accessible from Piraeus and the rest of the Western Cyclades, Folegandros, Santorini and also Crete.  During the summer season there are daily connections with Piraeus but not as good connections with the Central and Eastern Cyclades islands.

Milos is shaped like a horseshoe, part of which provides a natural location for the port.  There are no high mountains and most of the 8 villages are scattered in the flat, northern part of the island. The road network is good.
The islanders make their living out of agriculture, animal farms, mining the sea and tourism.

Milos is the fifth largest Cycladic island and together with Santorini, is situated on the volcanic Aegean arc.  Whilst Santorini has forged ahead with tourism, Milos has relied on her mineral wealth, producing 25% of the natural output. It is only in the last 10 years that tourism has taken off.
For sure there is much for the tourist to see: The ancient city, the Emerald cave, mine museum and the picturesque fishing village of Klima.
Pollonia on the North-east side of Milos, facing the island of Kimolos offers a ggod choice of hotels and apartments.
