The island of erotism and vivid contrasts is the ideal choice for relaxing and careless holidays. Accommodations and hotels on Serifos concentrate around the port area, Livadi and the beaches close by. Tourism on Serifos is still developing and therefore the units, hotels and apartments on Serifos, are still quite reasonable priced, except for the high season in August.
It covers an area of 75 square km and the length of the coasts stretches at 10 km, shaping numerous sinuous coasts and coves. The population of the island is 1,200 and people are mainly engaged in fishery, seafaring and lately in tourism, as this sector blossoms in the past few years.

The island is located between Kythnos and Sifnos and is approximately 74 nautical miles away from Piraeus port, to which the island is connected daily. In the summer there are more than one ferry on this itinerary.
Ferry boats need four and a half hours to reach Serifos, while by speedboats the journey takes only two and a half hours.
It is said that the island took its name from the ancient Greek word "strefos", which means the infertile and rough soil. The name could be quite justified, given that the island has rocky soil with low hills and tiny valleys in between, while the highest peak is Tourlos at approximately 585 meters. Although the soil is poor and infertile, the subsoil is rich in iron ores and this has been exploited systematically for centuries, starting back in antiquity. A characteristic feature of the island's fauna is the "Serifos' voiceless frog", mentioned by many ancient writers.
The island is worldwide known for its rocks for centuries. There are rich iron ore and magnetite deposits. Another important part has been the mining and trading of ilvaite crystals, which are thought to be the largest and most beautiful in the world, but also the green Quartz that is remarkably interesting due to its rarity but also due to the colored crystals that capture nearly all shades of green. There are still several kinds of rocks that are especially interesting such as the garnet, the andradite, the fluorite, the haematite, the limonite and the malachite.

The island belongs to the West Cyclades and is administratively subject to Syros, while its capital city is Milos. Moreover, the inhabitants of the island, as most individuals in Cyclades, share the features of the island temperament. Cheerful, always fond of having good time and singing, they always grab the opportunity for dancing and celebrations. People are engaged in agriculture, working on the few products that the poor soil supports, such as citrus fruits, early garden goods and vines, but also in fishery.

An island of purely Cycladic character and scenery, that has remained unaffected by tourist development that in many occasions invades and sweeps along with it the everyday life, the mores and changes a place almost instantly. Especially on Serifos the hotels are constructed in accordance with the surroundings.

An island where beauty and peacefulness make it a real place for holidays and which you will long for again and again!!!!
